RTE Late Late Show viewers gush praise for brave Claudia Scanlon

Late Late Show viewers were left speechless by the courageous Claudia Scanlon for her honesty on the debilitating condition she lives with.

The 19-year-old suffers from epidermolysis bullosa. She was on RTE's flagship chat show to raise awareness for the EB charity DEBRA Ireland alongside Irish rugby captain Johnny Sexton.

Claudia told Ryan Tubridy: "It affects me externally and internally and every aspect of my life. It's one of the worst conditions, I know I'm biased, that I think is out there. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

"It's a living hell and that's the only way I can describe it." Claudia previously appeared on the Late Late Show and said she has gone through a difficult time since then.

"I can't say it's been an easy few years since I was last on here. No one can go through this and not be affected by it," she added.

However, she is determined to live life to the fullest and later this year will complete her college course to become a qualified makeup artist.

Claudia continued: "I try be as positive as possible because I want to live my life, I have the right and I deserve to live the life that I was given and I don't want to sit in the corner and cry about it.

"I don't want to throw my life away, I'm here and I have a life to live."

An avid supporter of DEBRA Ireland, rugby star Johnny told Ryan: "When you see what the families have to go through, it's tough to see but incredibly inspiring with how they deal with it. That's why we're here tonight, to raise awareness."

RTE viewers were in awe of Claudia's strength and took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

"Hearing Claudia's story really throws things in perspective. What an amazing young woman," one viewer tweeted.

"What an amazing young lady Claudia is," a second added.

A third remarked: "What an incredible young woman. So well spoken and able to communicate her struggles so well."

"Claudia, what a brave girl! So eloquent too. My heart goes out to her," a fourth said.
