Celebrities, friends and colleagues were all at base camp to support the veteran journalist on his quest to raise as much money as possible for charity.
Daniel O'Donnell told viewers that he might belt out a tune on top of Croagh Patrick tomorrow.
He has recently been practising one of Charlie's favourite Bruce Springsteen songs as a surprise.
Vicky Phelan's family were also in attendance with the cervical cancer campaigner previously admitting that she would not be well enough to do the climb.
Viewers at home were blown away by Charlie's courage as he spoke using voice banking technology.
Here's what they had to say:
"Well that just set me over the edge bawling @charliebird49. The very best of luck tomorrow! What an incredible man to unite the country."
"You would be emotional listening to that interview with Charlie Bird and #ClimbwithCharlie crew on the @RTELateLateShow. Truly inspirational man."
"Really moving to hear Charlie Bird (in his own voice) on the #latelate. Love the 5 candles. They'll be lighting here too. Best of luck to all climbing their own mountain."
"Charlie Bird on late late. We'll never need another role model."
