Their sources have said that filming for season four is set to kick off in September.

The crime show has attracted hundreds of thousands of viewers on RTE One every Sunday night for the last few weeks as vicious family patriarch Bren wreaked havoc after being released from prison.

Bren, played by Francis Magee, divided viewers with some arguing he made the show while others wished for his demise.

Ahead of the final episode on Sunday, Emmett J. Scanlan who plays Bren's son Jimmy, tweeted to warn fans that they would not be prepared for how this season of the show will end.

"The response towards KIN has been utterly remarkable. Thank you to everyone who tuned in and too those who have been in touch personally… means a lot to me, to us… You ain’t ready for this ending though," he said.

The Kinsella family feud came to a head in the final episode last night with multiple deaths and fans were in total shock.

There was a mixed reaction to the bloody finale, as some called the episode a difficult watch while others relished in the final scenes.
