RTE Kin: All you need to know about terrifying Bren Kinsella actor Francis Magee

RTE's Kin is back with a bang and actor Francis Magee left viewers intrigued following Sunday night's episode.

He surfaced in the latest instalment of the crime drama, which first hit our screens in 2021. Francis plays Bren Kinsella, one of the least likeable members of the Kinsella crime family.

Bren returned to our screens last night following a stint in prison. Twitter audiences praised Francis for his portrayal of Bren, with one fan describing the on screen villain as a "madman."

Francis is one of many established actors on the show, including Aidan Gillen and Maria Doyle Kennedy. He has acted for decades, with stints on British soap operas such as Casualty, Holby City and Doctors.

The Dublin born star is no stranger to playing the villain following his appearances in Eastenders between 1993-1995. Francis starred as Liam Tyler, the abusive first husband of Debbie Bates. He appeared in 19 episodes in total.

His career path before acting may come as a surprise to some viewers. Although he was born in Dublin, the actor was raised in the Isle of Man, where he was employed as a fisherman. He also spent time in the 1980s as the main singer of two separate bands, Joe Public and Jo Jo Namoza.

The 63-year-old's more recent acting credits include an episode of popular anthology series 'Black Mirror.' He also made an appearance in British band Kid Kapichi's music video 'Smash the Gaff', released earlier this year.
