RTE DIY SOS leaves fans 'emotional wrecks' as Baz Ashmawy and crew help out young family

The latest episode of DIY SOS had people "sobbing into their Easter eggs" - as the RTE show which helps out families at need of a new home or a change to their circumstances pulled it out of the bag again.

Sunday night saw them head to Longwood in Meath.

Glen and Jen Parsons live with their two boys Ryan and Josh in the small village, with Jen, Ryan and Josh all requiring additional needs.

Their semi-detached home was no longer functional for the family, particularly as Ryan and Josh grew up.

Josh was diagnosed with Smith-Magennis Syndrome, a severe developmental disorder that affects many parts of the body.

Josh is non-verbal, peg-fed, and is in a wheelchair; he is unable to walk, crawl or sit unaided. Josh’s older brother Ryan (9) has autism and so had sensory requirements and needs his space and quiet time, which was very difficult for him to get in their original house.

Enter Baz Ashmawy and his famous army of volunteers and helpers.

The team managed to provide a stunning revamp, providing the family with much-needed space (allowing Jen to sleep in her own room, as opposed to on a mattress in Josh's) and the sensory requirements for their children.

And it's safe to say that viewers were in floods as a result.

One tweeted: "ll have to give up watching DIY SOS, I do be an emotional wreck after it. You think you have problems, then you see these families and you think, we are so lucky with what we have. The Parsons are a lovely family and I wish them every happiness

Another said: "DIY SOS is just amazing, the people who volunteer are just incredible. Listening to the stories of the families on it just break your heart and make you cherish what you have.

A third wrote: "What a show, I'm in a bundle watching it every week, Baz is the perfect host for it too, my favourite programme on RTÉ, hope it never ends, worth the TV licence fee alone and I won't hear anything different ok, thanks all x"

While a fourth said: "DIY SOS has me sobbing into my Easter egg. Well done Longwood."
