RTE Director General Dee Forbes has been suspended, the public service broadcaster has confirmed.

The shock announcement follows yesterday's revelations that RTE star Ryan Tubridy was paid €345,000 above his annual published salary over a period of several years.

RTE said in a statement this afternoon: "The RTE Board confirms that Dee Forbes, the Director General was suspended from her employment on Wednesday 21 June 2023.
