Irish social media and radio sensation, Carl Mullan, has been announced as the ninth celebrity to join the cast of series six of Dancing with the Stars.
The RTE personality confirmed on Thursday he would be taking on the new challenge despite being "a bag of nerves".
The 32-year-old announced he’d be throwing his hat in the ring for the glitterball trophy and said: “The only thing doing somersaults right now is my stomach - I’m a combination of a bag of nerves but also absolutely buzzing!
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I can’t wait to get going. It’s completely outside my comfort zone, I’ve never done any form of dancing before, but I’m determined to get my head down and do everything possible to make sure my partner and I get all the way to the final!”
Carl’s career skyrocketed back in 2021 when he began hosting RTE’s 2FM Breakfast with Doireann Garrihy and Donncha O’Callaghan.
The show quickly became a favourite among early risers and helped the funnyman garner an impressive 284,000 Instagram followers and 101,000 TikTok followers.
Carl's social media content regularly goes viral with his hilarious takes on everything that it means to be Irish from Ryanair flight landings to the traditional mammy.
Carl was launched into the public eye as the ‘crash test dummy’ on The Nicky Byrne Show with Jenny Greene.
The Dubliner, who is clearly not afraid of taking on a challenge, even went full Magic Mike and put his dance moves on the show for the series - so he’ll be hoping to bring some of that experience to the dancefloor in 2023.
It’s been a busy couple of years for Carl, as he welcomed his first child, Daibhí in 2021 and married his long-term partner Aisling in 2022.
Suzanne Jackson, Shane Byrne, Stephanie Roche, Damien McGinty, and Panti Bliss are among the star-studded lineup this season, with more to be confirmed very soon.
The show will return to the air on RTE One in January.
