Nate Eaton is not, in fact, a pitcher for the Kansas City Royals.
He plays infield and outfield. But in a blowout 11-2 loss to the Texas Rangers, the Royals brought him in to pitch, which we always love.
And then? Eaton shocked the world.
There were no eephus pitches like we’ve seen. No, he dialed it up to 94 MPH against Adolis Garcia — who is a good Major League hitter — before getting him swinging at 92.
Never mind that he gave up two hits in his inning. This is a big deal and really, really cool to see. Check out this sequence from Eaton:
Second baseman Nate Eaton came in to pitch when the Royals were down by 9 runs. He reached 94.9 mph and got a strikeout 😳

Can he be the next two-way player, please?
