Just days before witnessing the third coronation in her lifetime, royalist Peggy Coates was celebrating her own special milestone with a card from King Charles III.
Family and staff gathered at Eothen Care Home, in Gosforth, to wish the great-grandmother a very happy 100th birthday. The lounge was decorated with banners, balloons and birthday cards to commemorate her centenary.
And among the colourful display of cards and flowers was a card from King Charles III and Camilla, Queen Consort, which was received with such pride that Peggy agreed that she would frame it.

Peggy celebrated the coronations of George VI and Elizabeth II and featured on a photo board created to celebrate Peggy's birthday was a photo of her, aged 14, celebrating King George VI's crowning in 1937.
The photo featured among a number of pictures of Peggy when she was younger, including one taken on her wedding day in 1944, when she married her Geordie husband, Edwin.
Peggy and Edwin met at a church dance in Ballymoney, Northern Ireland, when he was stationed near to the town she lived in during his Army training. The pair later moved to the North East a year before they married and stayed with Edwin's sister Elsie in Newcastle.
There were no guests at Peggy and Edwin's wedding, and due to the war and rationing the couple were unable to have a wedding cake. But 60 years later, their daughter Mardie surprised them with a wedding cake during their 60th wedding anniversary celebrations at a family do in Masham, Yorkshire.
Peggy and Edwin shared their lives together until Edwin died 11 years ago, aged 90. Asked what her secret is to a long life, Peggy said cycling everywhere and swimming well into her 60s.
