The Royal Variety Performance is set to air tonight, as some of the world’s most talented entertainers take to the stage at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The annual event is always a star-studded occasion as a host of singers, comedians and actors perform for senior members of the Royal Family.
The event is staged in aid of the Royal Variety Charity – of which King Charles is a patron – with the money raised helping people from the world of entertainment in need of care and assistance. This will be the first Royal Variety Performance since the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September and will be attended by her youngest child, Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
The first event took place in 1912 which makes it the longest-running entertainment show in the world, according to its website.
