A same-sex, non-white couple will star in a new advert aimed at bringing a more “diverse” crowd of visitors to royal tourist sites.
Historic Royal Palaces is making a “promo video” for one of the regal buildings in London.
And the charity hopes it will help attract a wide range of people to reflect modern, multi-cultural Britain.
It looks after six unoccupied palaces, including Kensington – the former home of Prince William, Princess Kate and their children, Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five.
But last night sources said the charity wants a very different kind of family for the video, which is aimed at projecting an inclusive image.
One said: “Historic Royal Palaces have made a conscious choice here to not cast the typical 2.4 children, white, middle class family.
“They want to appeal to a more diverse audience than that. And they feel this promotional video will make that message very clear.”
Creative agency Iconic Steps, which prides itself on “raising diverse talent” has been tasked with finding the actors for the 15-second, silent film.
The casting call reveals bosses are looking for two men to play the couple.
They should be aged between 40 and 45 and of an Asian, Indian, Latino, Hispanic or “ethnically ambiguous” appearance.
The agency also wants actors to play the couple’s daughter and son, plus two grandparents.
Children hoping to land a role should be aged between seven and 10. The granny and grandad are aged 70 to 79.
The fee on offer for the shoot, which will take place on July 4 and 10, is £250 for eight hours of work, plus expenses.
The move comes after King Charles’ coronation in May became the most diverse in history – in line with the new Monarch’s wishes to reflect a multi-cultural United Kingdom.
