- Royal Mail has announced plans to cut up to 2,500 head office and support function roles by the end of 2027.
- The cuts form part of an organisational review aimed at adapting to a 70 per cent drop in letter volumes and growing parcel demand.
- Chief executive Alistair Cochrane stated the restructuring will remove duplication and enable further investment in customer services.
- Royal Mail, which employs around 130,000 people, stated it will work closely with trade unions throughout the process.
- The announcement comes as regulator Ofcom investigates the company over its failure to meet crucial delivery targets over the past year.
