Royal Mail has said it has "no current plans" to close a Nottinghamshire delivery office. The organisation has commented after villagers raised concerns that the facility in Ravenshead could close by the end of next month and move to Mansfield Woodhouse.

A Royal Mail spokesperson told Nottinghamshire Live: "We wish to reassure customers that we have no current plans to close our Ravenshead delivery office." The facility is based in a Post Office branch.

Gedling Borough Councillor Martin Smith, representing Newstead Abbey ward, said he was informed of a possible closure by concerned postal workers. He said he was worried the Post Office would be "in jeopardy" if the sorting office shut.

Residents said if the sorting office did close, people would have to to get from Ravenshead to Mansfield Woodhouse in order to collect a missed delivery.
