Royal family 'fully expecting' Harry and Meghan to attend King Charles coronation

The Royal family are "fully expecting" Harry and Meghan to attend the Coronation of King Charles III, it has been reported.

A source close to the family said that some royals had been "spitting feathers" about some of the allegations levelled by Prince Harry his memoir, but that they are still expecting the Sussexes to travel over for the occasion in May.

The source said: "Members of the family have told me that both Harry and Meghan will definitely come. They fully expect that.

"And they should realise that there is only one subject that many members of the Royal Family will be willing to discuss… and that’s the weather."

Invitations to the coronation event are expected to be sent out shortly, at which point the ball will be in Harry and Meghan's court as they decide whether or not to attend, the Daily Mail reports.

The day of the coronation, May 6, coincides with the birthday of Harry and Meghan's son Archie, who is due to turn four.

Government officials are reportedly drawing up contingency plans in case Harry decides to attend the ceremony on his own.

A source told the Mail: "From what I know of Harry and Meghan, they will both want to spend some time with their son on his birthday."

Insiders have hinted that royals will remain tight-lipped about Harry's various bombshell claims as they focus on the King's big day instead of arguing over family matters.

A source told the Mail: "Harry revealed details of private conversations so everyone is on edge. You ask about the Sussexes and everyone immediately changes the subject. They are spitting feathers but not minded to provide any fuel for the fire."

If the couple do attend the Coronation it is understood that they will not form an official part of the ceremony. They will also not be invited to join the rest of the family on the balcony at Buckingham Palace.

Palace officials are reportedly working hard to finalise the guest list. With only 2,000 seats available, Members of Parliament and the House of Lords will be invited to enter a ballot to see who will be issued a ticket.

Despite the fallout from Harry's memoir, 'Spare', he reportedly has "no regrets" about the many bombshell claims made within its pages.

The Duke was said to be in good form when attending Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s surprise wedding vow renewal ceremony last week.

“Harry said he was really happy about the success of the book and the reaction to it,” one guest at the party said.

“He said he had no regrets about any of the revelations, and he’s relieved to have got his story out into the world."

Spare sold more than 3.2 million copies worldwide in its first week and was crowned the fastest-selling non-fiction book of all time, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
