A 44-year-old woman who went overboard from Royal Caribbean’s Odyssey of the Seas in the Mediterranean was found alive after nearly a day in the water, authorities said Sunday. Media reports say that the woman was found alive after a long and extensive search and rescue operation involving the Greek Coast Guard and other vessels. The woman, identified in the Greek media reports as a citizen of El Salvador, fell off a cruise ship into the sea dozens of miles off the coast of the Peloponnese.
She was rescued during the early hours of Saturday, October 10, 2026, after going missing from the cruise ship on Friday morning. She was some 70 nautical miles southwest of the Ionian Sea island of Zakynthos. It was not immediately known how she fell into the water and how she came to have a lifebelt.
