Roy Keane waxes lyrical about Liverpool's 'brilliant, brilliant player'

Manchester United legend Roy Keane couldn't hide his admiration for Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold in his latest punditry appearance.

The England international has become one of the first names on Jurgen Klopp's teamsheet, playing an integral part in the Champions League and Premier League successes.

This season, that trend has continued with Alexander-Arnold boasting 10 assists and two goals in 19 Premier League appearances - with the former being the highest amount in the top-flight, ahead of teammate Mohamed Salah.

That has seen the 23-year-old rise his stock once again and Keane lavished praise upon the club's academy graduate on Sunday.

"Absolutely brilliant, what a player. He's fantastic, the stats you showed, absolutely brilliant, brilliant player," he said ahead of Sky Sports' coverage of the clash against Crystal Palace.

"A local lad, I bet he can't believe his luck. The chances he creates, the assists, unbelievable. He looks like a good athlete, looks like a decent lad. Brilliant player.

"We all get excited about attacking players but to get excited by him, the full-back, it's how the game has changed in the past few years, the full-backs are so important to the team now.

"The assists, the positions he gets himself in, he's got a lot of braves, got a lot of courage. What a brilliant player."

Alexander-Arnold will be pushing to establish himself in the England set-up for the World Cup later this year, having often been overlooked by Gareth Southgate.

He was not part of the squad that finished as runners-up in last year's European Championship, having been forced to withdraw due to injury.
