Roy Keane refuses to smile as Sky Sports team pose for photo during meal

The Sky Sports team were all smiles as they enjoyed a meal ahead of the weekend's Premier League matches, well almost...

Roy Keane sported his usual no-nonsense look as him and fellow pundits including Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Micah Richards and Jamie Redkknapp posed for the snap.

Commentator Martin Tyler and ex-Arsenal striker Alan Smith were also in attendance and sat either side of the Cork native.

Keane was on punditry duty for Sky Sports on Sunday as Manchester United lost their opening game of the season 2-1 to Brighton before Manchester City beat West Ham 2-0 in London.

And the Red Devils' legend saw the same problems within United's squad as the ones from last season.

He said: "You talk about pre-season, I saw a lot of PR nonsense coming out of Manchester United during the games, and I still saw the same problems. It's the same characters, same personalities, especially in midfield."

Keane added: “There's an element of talent in the squad but when they do have a little setback they can't seem to deal with it.

"I go back to the DNA of the club or the culture of the players and what is going on at the training ground. It's not there. I don't see personalities, I don't see characters.

“Harry Maguire said it was a 'nightmare start' after the game. Well it's up to the players to do something about it. Harry is the captain and after every game he says 'we're disappointed, we'll regroup, we'll go again'. Leopards and spots. It's not always about throwing money at it."

Gary Neville claimed that United's players are giving 100 per cent, but Keane disagreed, saying: "It's very hard to criticise players and say 'they're not giving 100 per cent' but if the stats suggest most of last season and going into the first game of this season then they're not giving 100 per cent.

"Today was a bit of lack of football intelligence, they're dead open. They can't seem to keep clean sheets. Huge, huge problems for the club.”

Keane and Neville were both critical of United's reported interest in former West Ham forward Marko Arnautovic, who now plays in Italy with Bologna.

Keane said: "Who’s making these decisions? Who’s deciding which players are going to come in?

"They’re talking about Darren Fletcher as technical director, they’ve got a new coach, John Murtough is obviously involved, there’s a new chief executive, there’s talk about them going back to Alex Ferguson and David Gill. My goodness, what is going on?

"‘It’s alright having the money, you’ve got to get the right players in with the right character."

Neville added: "We’ve seen it with Falcao, Ibrahimovic, Cavani, Ighalo – these desperate, sort of experienced signings

"We’ve seen it now for eight or 10 years, it’s a pattern, it’s happening time and time again. We don’t even get angry, we don’t even get animated about it anymore. It’s got to the point where I don’t even want to comment about it."
