Roy Keane is being linked with an incredible return to football management just over a week after he said he had no plans to return as a manager.
The former Sunderland and Ipswich boss has been linked with the vacant Hibernian job after Shaun Maloney was sacked earlier this month.
It is understood that talks between Keane and the Easter Road club could take place this week.
Chief executive Ben Kensell and head of recruitment Ian Gordon have headed south to interview candidates.
Hibs have had a number of strong applicants from managers with international and English Premier League experience.
The club has whittled down their shortlist and are set to take things to the next level with a series of face-to-face interviews over the coming days.
Maloney was sacked just over four months after leaving his coaching role with Belgium to take the job with the Edinburgh club.
When asked if he feels like a 'manager doing punditry' by Jamie Carragher on a SPORTbible video recently, Keane said: "I did up til recently, but I almost feel recently, I think, those days are over for me now, going back into management.
"I really feel like that. I'm 50 now, I'm doing the TV. Obviously, I'm labelled as more of a pundit now.
"But no, no, I feel I'm getting my head round it. It's maybe more of a head job that is the role for me and over the next few years, I think I can't see a club really giving me a real good opportunity to get back into it.
"But I don't mind that either. I'm not fearful of going, 'Well, you might do the TV for the next two or three years.' I'm fine with that, because I do count my blessings, because I know, as you know, there's a lot of ex-players looking to get back into it, and yeah, I'm okay with that."
He added: "If going back to the punditry, you and Gary obviously, and Micah, we do love the game. And we give our opinions, I'm sure not everyone agrees with us."
Keane last managed in his own right at Ipswich in 2011, although he has coached with Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and the Republic of Ireland in the meantime.
