Chelsea and Senegal star Edouard Mendy has been described as the "weak link" for his national team by Roy Keane ahead of their round of 16 World Cup clash with England. It comes amid concerns over the goalkeeper's recent form for both club and country.
The past few seasons has seen Mendy become the number one choice at Stamford Bridge, however this campaign has seen a battle with Kepa Arrizabalaga. The World Cup offers a chance for the shotstopper to find his form once again, but an error against the Netherlands in the group stage has brought up questions over his place once again.
Despite those doubts, manager Aliou Cisse has given the 30-year-old his full backing: "Edouard is doing very well, he has a steel resolve. We chatted about the game. Edouard's qualities speak for themselves. He has had highs and lows but he has my blind trust. He will be on the pitch."

It remains to be seen if that could be a costly decision for Cisse, though Mendy's performances in two penalty shootouts for Senegal has earned him that place as well as the nation winning the African Cup of Nations and a position at this World Cup. However, former Manchester United captain Keane believes he could be somewhere to target for the Three Lions.
He said on ITV: "You never underestimate a team but never overestimate them either. England have got a good starting 11 and looks strong on paper. You mentioned there, goalkeepers, Senegal, I think he [Mendy] is a weak link for them, not great."
With a place in the quarter-finals up for grabs, the Chelsea star will be hoping he can prove why he should be an option for Graham Potter in goal on his return to the club.
