Roy Keane has explained why he was “surprised” by Liverpool’s draw with Fulham.
The Reds had to settle for a point as they were held to a 2-2 stalemate in their Premier League opener at Craven Cottage on Saturday. Second half goals from Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah helped earn a draw for Liverpool.
It was the first time since 2017 that Liverpool haven’t won their first league fixture of the new season. Next up for Jurgen Klopp’s side is a home clash against Crystal Palace on Monday, August 15.

Former Manchester United star Keane has explained what surprised him about Liverpool’s performance. He also described Virgil van Dijk’s defending for the penalty incident on Aleksandar Mitrovic as “clumsy”.
“Of course it did,” Keane told Sky Sports, when asked if Liverpool’s draw with Fulham surprised him.
“The way Liverpool performed last week and the game yesterday, they just didn’t seem to be at it.
“They always have quality. Beautiful, lovely, great run (from Nunez). Defensively Liverpool were very, very poor.
“Fulham, (I was) expecting them to struggle, but Van Dijk (penalty incident on Mitrovic), just clumsy defending from such an outstanding player.
“Maybe Liverpool thought it would be an easy day but it wasn’t easy for them.”
