Roy Keane does not agree with the praise directed at Fred following his goal against “a terrible Spurs team” on Wednesday.
The Brazilian was hailed for his display in the 2-0 win over Tottenham, which was overshadowed by Cristiano Ronaldo’s early exit. His selection for the match was a surprise to some after a fruitless outing against Newcastle the previous Sunday.
But with Christian Eriksen only well enough for the bench, Fred came back in and delivered, to many fans, a superb performance. But speaking in the build-up to United ’s clash with Chelsea on Saturday, Keane didn’t agree.

“Fred done alright, people say magnificent - I don’t get it, I must be watching a different game to other people,” he said on Sky Sports. “I think he’d done okay against a terrible Spurs team."
“Spurs’ midfield was shocking, no legs, energy, creativity and Fred done okay in the game.” Fellow pundit and ex-Chelsea striker Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink added: “They need something different.
“Someone who will control the ball, someone who can give the final pass. Somebody that can control the game, I don’t think Fred is that. When you’re coming here, you need to have ball players if you want to have a chance to win here that's why Fred isn’t playing.”
