“Fred done alright, people say magnificent - I don’t get it, I must be watching a different game to other people,” he said on Sky Sports. “I think he’d done okay against a terrible Spurs team."

“Spurs’ midfield was shocking, no legs, energy, creativity and Fred done okay in the game.” Fellow pundit and ex-Chelsea striker Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink added: “They need something different.

“Someone who will control the ball, someone who can give the final pass. Somebody that can control the game, I don’t think Fred is that. When you’re coming here, you need to have ball players if you want to have a chance to win here that's why Fred isn’t playing.”
