Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher disagree with Micah Richards over Liverpool and Man City decision

Jamie Carragher got involved in a heated discussion with Micah Richards after Liverpool’s draw with Manchester City.

The Reds were held to a 2-2 draw with Man City in the Premier League, which leaves them one point adrift in the title race. Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane got the goals for Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.

Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus scored the goals for the home side, but they thought for a few minutes they had a third.

Raheem Sterling slotted the ball past Alisson Becker to temporarily put Man City 3-2 in front, but after a VAR check the goal was disallowed for offside. Replays showed that Sterling’s shoulder was narrowly offside.

After the full-time whistle, Carragher, Richards and Roy Keane were talking about the disallowed goal. Richards claimed it was a ‘harsh’ decision, but Carragher quickly responded to the former Man City defender’s remarks.

“It was millimetres,” Richards told Sky Sports about Sterling’s goal. “We want VAR in the game for important decisions.

“De Bruyne again getting into those pockets, we’re talking about can he finish it? Has he got the composure? Yes.

“I actually didn’t celebrate too much, I was thinking, is he offside? We’re talking millimetres offside.”

Keane then replied first to Richard’s comments, saying: “It was offside, it doesn’t matter.”

Richards then continued: “It was harsh but we don’t want to see this.”

Carragher quickly responded by saying: “It’s not harsh, it’s fact.

Richards then concluded: “It’s harsh, we should be giving the advantage.

“It was the right decision but having the game defined by this much.”
