Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher agree on Aaron Ramsdale verdict after Arsenal draw vs West Ham

Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane both picked out Aaron Ramsdale's role in Jarrod Bowen's equalising goal as Arsenal fell to a second consecutive 2-2 draw. The result damages their chances of lifting the Premier League after failing to capitalise on a two-goal lead away from home for the second time in a week.

Early goals from Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard had put Mikel Arteta's side in control after just 10 minutes but following a similar drop off from Anfield last Sunday, West Ham came back into the game. Said Benrahma's first half penalty cut the deficit just as Liverpool found themselves allowed back into the game.

Bukayo Saka had the chance to reassert the cushion but blazed his penalty wide before Bowen volleyed home to strengthen the Hammers' hopes of avoiding relegation and similarly damage Arsenal's hopes of pipping Manchester City to the title.

Bowen's strike, which came moments after Saka sent his penalty wide of the target, caught out the Gunners' defence and left Ramsdale exposed to the free strike. Having been widely praised for his role in ensuring that a point was taken from Merseyside last week, the Englishman was criticised here.

"I praised the goalkeeper last week, he got a hand to it [Bowen’s goal], I really think he should save that," said Keane after the game. Meanwhile, Carragher also felt that given his impressive form between the posts this season, Ramsdale should have done better.

"Bowen’s just got his eye on the ball, he hits it into the ground and the goalkeeper - who was fantastic last week - I think he’ll be disappointed with that, he’s got to save that."

With 12 clean sheets, Ramsdale has the second most of any keeper in the league this season and has continued his development into a top-level player. At 73%, his save percentage is only the sixth-best though, while the post-shot expected goals saved metric of just 1.4 is also a middling total for Premier League shot-stoppers.
