Roy Keane and Gary Neville agree on Man United problem amid Arsenal and Tottenham top four race

Former Manchester United stars Roy Keane and Gary Neville both believe that there is something wrong with the dressing room at the club, amid their battle for the top four. The Red Devils have struggled this season, trailing Arsenal and Tottenham in the race for the Champions League.

Before their game with Brentford, they trailed the Gunners by eight points, with only nine available from their final three games. With Spurs also ahead of them, it means they would need a huge swing of results in their favour to finish fourth.

The club are set for a rebuild over the summer, with Erik ten Hag announced as their new manager. Mikel Arteta praised the Dutchman after the appointment: "I think he's [Erik ten Hag] been really good at what he did a couple of years ago in the Champions League, especially the way his teams play. It's a Man United decision, and there's nothing more to say."

However, should the season end badly, they may have some work to do to close the gap between both Arsenal and Spurs heading into next season. However, former club captain Roy Keane believes that there must be something wrong with the dressing room in their poor season.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: "For the all issues they have, the chaos seems to be all over the club. If you haven't got a decent dressing room, forget about it, you’re in trouble anywhere.

"I go back, decent personalities, decent characters. We’ve seen with Man United, when things go against them, that’s it, they almost throw the towel in.

"It’s a bad reflection of senior players at the club. Young players getting carried away and thinking they’re players. A bad dressing room, forget about it, you’ve got no chance."

This was something that another ex-teammate Gary Neville agreed with, saying: "You can point to Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer], maybe reaching his height and not going any further. Or, something has distributed this dressing room, they’ve not got the right ingredients in the dish and it’s made it go completely sour.

"That’s the bit that has to be dealt with because these players, they’re not as bad as that points tally. They’re better than that. There is something deeper that is wrong in that dressing room that’s making them play the way they are and making them get results they’re getting."

It means that the side have a lot to do to catch up with the two London sides in an attempt to return to the Champions League next season. The summer transfer window could dictate whether that happens or not.
