The Scottish Cup fourth round has begun with the Scottish Premiership sides joining the action in the last 32.
A busy day of action got underway in Glasgow's east end as Celtic made an early statement with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Morton at Parkhead. Kyogo Furuhashi and Aaron Mooy both netted a brace, with David Turnbull also on the scoresheet after being handed a rare start.
Three ties went to extra time and penalties after nothing could separate Hamilton and Ross County (0-0), Partick Thistle and Dunfermline (1-1), as well as St Mirren versus Dundee (0-0). And the shock of the afternoon came at New Douglas Park as Hamilton triumphed 5-3 winners in a thrilling penalty shootout, in what was a morale boosting win for John Rankin's Championship strugglers. Partick succeeded in a nail biting 4-2 shootout victory while St Mirren put Dundee to the sword by firing in three spot kicks without reply to progress 3-0 at the SMISA Stadium.
Dundee United were put under the ropes against Stirling University before finally breaking the deadlock just before half-time through Aziz Behich. Jamie McGrath and Glenn Middleton then struck in the final 20 minutes at Tannadice which ensured the Premiership club's progression.
There was late drama at Rugby Park as Jordan Jones struck a dramatic 90th minute winner for Kilmarnock to see off Dumbarton as the tie looked to be going the distance.
Livingston survived an early scare to see off Stenhousemuir at Ochilview Park. Nicky Jamieson gave the League Two outfit a half-time lead against the run of play but the Lions bounced back in the second half through Scott Pittman's strike and a double from January signing Steven Bradley.
Goals from Mikael Mandron and Kevin van Veen either side of the break ensured Motherwell overcame Arbroath in a tighly-contested encounter at Gayfield.
Falkirk came from behind to see off fellow League One hopeful's Alloa. Luke Donnelly put the Wasps in the ascendancy early on but Brad McKay's strike right on half-time was added to by Rumarn Burrell's header to put John McGlynn's men into the next round.
Rangers make the trip up to Perth to face St Johnstone in the Saturday evening kick-off where Michael Beale will be hoping to maintain his unbeaten run as Light Blues manager. There's a huge tie in the capital on Sunday, with Hibernian hosting Hearts for a place in the round of 16. While Aberdeen make the six-hour round trip to East Ayrshire on Monday as they take on ambitious West of Scotland Premier Division side Darvel to round off the ties.
