Ross County complete transfer of Simon Murray from Queen's Park

Ross County have signed Simon Murray from Queen's Park.

The striker has been in red-hot form for the Championship outfit so far this season.

The 30-year-old, who boasts over 100 goals from over 250 career appearances, joins the Staggies after playing a key role in Queens Park’s rise from League Two to the Championship over the last three seasons.

Having been with The Spiders since 2020, Simon has also represented Dundee United, Hibernian, and Dundee in a professional career that has spanned over 13 years to date.

Now, he will try to help fire the Dingwall side to Premiership safety.

Malky Mackay said: “It is fantastic to add somebody with Simon’s experience to the group. He has been an integral part of their success and we believe we have a player who knows not only what it takes to perform in the Premiership but to buy in to the culture of Ross County.

He added, “I would like to thank Queens Park and specifically Lord Haughey and Leeann Dempster for working with us to make Simon’s move North happen and wish them every success in their push for promotion.”

Meanwhile, Queen's have signed an attacking replacement in the shape of Connor Shields.

The 26-year-old has move to the Championship leaders from Motherwell in a deal until the end of the season.

He has previous experienced in Scotland's second tier, enjoying a successful spell with Queen of the South.

During his last season there, he netted 11 times in 26 appearances for the Doonhamers.

Now, Shields will bolster the Spiders' attacking options as they continue their bid for promotion to the Premiership.
