Puerto Rican actress and singer Roselyn Sánchez moved her followers on Tuesday with a heartbreaking post where she shared the news of the death of her nephew, Carlos Enrique Sánchez, affectionately known as "Kike." He was only 19 years old.
Sánchez's social media post featured several images capturing the moments she shared with Kike. Accompanying the photos was a profoundly emotional message where she described the experience as "the worst" her family has ever endured, especially considering how young he was and how much life he had ahead of him.
"Our families will never be the same without your smile, spirit, and presence. This has been the worst experience of our lives. To see you leave in such an unnecessary and unjust way. At just 19 years old,... a good, loving, brilliant, disciplined, healthy, vibrant, and joyful young man... It's devastating, dear nephew," wrote the actress and model.
Sánchez continued, expressing that although there are no answers or solace for such a young death, she takes comfort in knowing he is now in a better place.
"We can only take comfort in knowing that you are in the Kingdom, in a beautiful place, and will guide us from there. As Pastor Ariel beautifully said during the funeral service, 'you inspire us to excellence.' Because that's what you were... excellent. You have beautiful expectations of us... and we will fulfill them. We adore you, my 'Kike,' rest in peace," she added.
As expected, Sánchez's social media pages were flooded with messages and condolences, including heartfelt notes from colleagues and Hollywood personalities.
One such message came from actor Amaury Nolasco, best known for his role in the Prison Break series. He shared that he had the honor of meeting Kike in the past.
"I had the privilege of meeting this wonderful human being, a son, brother, and nephew who was exceptional, unique, and exemplary. We are told not to question God's will, but it's impossible not to ask why you took him so soon. Only you know," wrote Nolasco, along with his heartfelt condolences.
Similarly, influencer and content creator Miredy Rivera and singer Olga Tañón shared their sympathies with Sánchez.
"May God bring you the comfort you deserve in this time of great loss. A big hug to your entire family. Rest in peace," wrote Tañón.
In her Instagram post, Sánchez did not specify the cause of Kike's passing. However, through her X account (formerly known as Twitter), she responded to a follower who asked why there hadn't been a new episode of her podcast, 'He Said... Ella Dijo,' in two weeks.
Sánchez replied that she was "dealing with a family situation" and was currently in El Paso, Texas. Judging by the time of the tweet, which was posted on the evening of October 8th, it seems that Kike's passing had not yet occurred.
"We are dealing with a family situation. Have been trying to navigate with my family what's tough to become our new normal. We are currently in El Paso TX. We will talk about it on the podcast... Thanks for your patience. Much love," she wrote.
