Rory McIlroy will reportedly be docked €2.7 million after pulling out of this week's RBC Heritage with the Northern Ireland golfer set to lose a large chunk of his Player Impact Programme (PIP) bonus.
As part of the PGA Tour shake up they have installed a number of designated events which the top players, including McIlroy, all have to play.
Players are permitted to skip one of the 12 designated events and McIlroy already opted out of the Sentry Tournament of Champions earlier this year.
The Northern Irish golfer was second in the PGA Tour PIP standings last year and was set to receive a whopping $12m (€10.85m)
The world number three was already paid out three-quarters of his PIP payout but now looks set to forfeit the remaining €2.7m according to Sports Illustrated.
McIlroy has given no reason for his withdrawal which comes off the back of a disappointing Masters performance that saw him miss the cut at Augusta National.
