Rory McIlroy has been backed to win The Players Championship this week, days after suffering heartbreak at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
The four-time major winner had a putt on the last to take the lead but missed and Kurt Kitayama went on to win his first PGA Tour event.
McIlroy has been in scintillating form this year and will be looking to regain the world number-one spot from Jon Rahm.
And McIlroy has been backed into bookmaker's favourite for this week's Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass.
The Northern Ireland man previously won the event back in 2019 and is priced at 9/1 by Boylesports.
Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler are both priced at 10/1 to win the event while Patrick Cantlay is 14/1.
Shane Lowry is priced at 33/1 to win while Seamus Power is 100/1.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “The battle for top spot in the world rankings is hot right now with Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler in such scintillating form. But Rory McIlroy went within a whisker last week and support is snowballing for him to tame Sawgrass again.”
