It was the news that had the golf world buzzing: Rory McIlroy and his wife Erica — who got married in 2017 and have a daughter, Poppy, together — were filing for divorce in May of this year.
But then something changed in the past month. Just before McIlroy teed off and contended at the 2024 U.S. Open in Pinehurst, his attorney filed a motion to dismiss the petition.
Here’s what McIlroy said via The Guardian: “There have been rumours about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate. Responding to each rumour is a fool’s game. Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”
