Emergency services were called to a flat fire where a room ‘filled with smoke’. Fire crews were called to George Street in Nottingham city centre on Saturday May 6 due to a flat fire.
Five fire crews were at the scene along with police, ambulance and incident response units. The road was cordoned off as emergency services were at the scene of the incident.
The occupant of the flat, who did not wish to be named, said the fire startedin the living room. They added that the room was filled with smoke.

They said: “We were in the bedroom and the fire started in the living room, that’s all we know. We got out the room because it was filled with smoke.
“My landlord just called and is able to come. It’s a bad day for us.”
The occupant, who lives in the flat with a friend, told Nottinghamshire Live they are planning to stay with their friends, as Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue confirmed they let everyone back into the building apart from the flat affected by the fire.
The incident was reported at 10.44am and at around 12pm on May 6 the scene had been cleared.
Officer in charge Andy Turley said:” It’s all been cleared now, we have allowed everyone back into their rooms except for the flat that was involved.”
