With the NFL draft over and rookie camps underway, it is a good time to evaluate the draft picks and see what kind of impacts the projected contributors will make.
Let’s take a look at the Jaguars draft picks and project some stats for the team’s early draftees:
Offensive Tackle Anton Harrison
Sacks allowed: 2
Penalties: 4
While Anton Harrison will see play right away, it may not lot last all season. With starting left tackle Cam Robinson facing suspension, Harrison will be asked to slide in at right tackle while current right tackle Walker Little fills the void. Given the circumstances, it is likely a prep year for Harrison, who was drafted to be a tackle of the future.
Tight End Brenton Strange
Catches: 20
Yards: 240
Touchdowns: 1
Another pick that is for the future, Brenton Strange will almost certainly sit behind Evan Engram who is playing on the franchise tag this season. While Strange will see some snaps and throws come his way in more jumbo packages, it is hard to project an overly productive season for the rookie. Expect to see Strange in the starting role the following season.
Running Back Tank Bigsby
Rushing yards: 350
Touchdowns: 3
The Jaguars have created quite the stable of runners behind franchise back Travis Etienne with free agent additions alongside the drafting of Tank Bigsby. With talents like D’Ernest Johnson ahead of him, it is tough to forecast a ton of usage outside of an injury. Bigsby is still a hard nosed runner, so Jacksonville will likely be eager to get him some snaps along the season.
