Rookie Report: Warriors’ Brandin Podziemski records first career double-double vs. Suns

In a rough loss headlined by Draymond Green being ejected for hitting Jusuf Nurkic, Golden State Warriors rookie Brandin Podziemski provided a breath of fresh air against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night.

While the Suns stole the Warriors’ advantage in the second half and began to build a lead of their own, the Santa Clara product provided a much-needed spark off the bench for Steve Kerr’s rotation.

Podziemski helped fuel a late comeback against the Suns in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. Although the Warriors couldn’t complete the comeback, the rookie notched his first career double-double.

Podziemski finished with 20 points off the bench on 9-of-14 shooting from the field to go along with 11 rebounds, five assists and a steal in 29 minutes against the Suns.

Podzeimski has tallied double figures off the bench in four of his last five games. He will have the chance to continue his impressive stretch on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Clippers.
