Ronny Deila wants Nicolas Raskin Rangers transfer as ex Celtic boss seeks speedy Standard solution

Former Celtic manager Ronny Deila has admitted he would be delighted if Rangers complete their move for Nicolas Raskin this week....because he does not want to keep an unhappy player at his Standard Liege club. The Ibrox club are closing in on a deal for the 21-year-old, who has been frozen out of the Belgian club after refusing to sign a new contract. His current deal expires in the summer.

Deila, who was in charge of the Hoops for two years, has previously stated how much he rates Raskin and insisted he should have been in the Belgium squad for their World Cup campaign, which ended in failure.
But he's been forced to dump the midfielder into the reserves on orders of club chiefs and Raskin hit out last month about his treatment.

And quizzed about Rangers' interest in Raskin, Deila admitted he hopes the deal will go through in this transfer window. He said: "We'll see what happens with Nicolas. I don't know if he will complete any transfer in January, but it would be good for all parties if we quickly find a solution.

"Nicolas staying here and not playing for six months is not a good situation for him or us and it is not pleasant to keep players who no longer want to stay here. And it would also cost us a lot of money if he stays until then."
