Former Celtic boss Ronny Deila will decide this week whether to return to European football after being offered the Standard Liege job.
The former Hoops manager is in charge of New York City FC in the United States and led them to their first-ever MLS Cup win in December.
But ambitious Belgian club Standard have new American owners and made Deila their No.1 choice for the job, on the recommendation of new sporting director, former Manchester City loans and pathway manager Fergal Harkin, who Deila once revealed helped put him in for the Celtic job in 2014.
New York City, who sit in second place in the MLS, will be desperate to keep their man. Standard endured a miserable season where they finished 14th and only just beat the drop.
But they have pledged a complete overhaul of the playing squad in a bid to challenge for the title next season.
And they have offered the job to the 46-year-old Norwegian who has promised to give Standard an answer by the end of the week.
