Ronaldinho picks favourite Premier League team - "It is hard to choose just one"

Ronaldinho has declared Liverpool are his favourite team to follow in the Premier League because he "really likes watching" their attackers in full flow.

The Brazil legend, 42, never played in the English top flight during his astonishing career, which involved trophy-laden spells at Barcelona and AC Milan, among many other top clubs. Therefore, he has no particular allegiance to any Premier League club but watches English football from afar when the season is underway.

Ronaldinho admits it is difficult to pick one of the 20 teams as his preferred outfit as they each have at least one "great player" whom he enjoys watching. However, when pressed for an answer, the 2005 Ballon d'Or winner picked out Liverpool as the team which excites him most thanks to their star-studded frontline.

"It's hard [to choose just one team], there are many. I really like a lot of players from many clubs," Ronaldinho told JOE. "It is hard to choose just one. I think each club has a great player that I like watching, but I think the attacking players for Liverpool are the players that I currently really like watching."

Liverpool have a dazzling array of talent up front including Roberto Firmino, Ronaldinho's compatriot, as well as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Takumi Minamino. Ronaldinho may also have a soft spot for the Anfield club as they have a strong core of Brazilian players, with Alisson and Fabinho two of their most-important stars in goal and in midfield respectively.

The 2002 World Cup winner, who retired after a brief spell with Fluminense in his homeland in 2015, nailed his colours to the Liverpool mast ahead of their Champions League final showdown against Real Madrid in late May.

"Two great teams. They have very good players. I wish them the best. Real Madrid are very good. But, as I really like Barca, I'm with Liverpool," Ronaldinho told French outlet RMC Sport ahead of the final in Paris, which the Reds went on to lose 1-0. The former playmaker spent five seasons with Barcelona between 2003 and 2008, winning two La Liga titles and the Champions League, so his preference for Liverpool over Los Blancos, his former El Clasico rivals, did not come as a surprise.

Across his acclaimed career, Ronaldinho scored 299 goals for club and country, winning the Copa Libertadores with Atletico Mineiro in 2013 and the Copa America with Brazil 14 years earlier. Since hanging up his boots, he has signed a deal to serve as an ambassador for Barcelona.
