Braves superstar outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. made MLB history on Thursday night during Atlanta’s tilt against the Dodgers.
In the top of the second inning, Acuña launched a grand slam to break open the game. The bases-clearing bomb was his 30th home run of the season, and it also set him apart in league history.
Acuña now has 30 home runs and 61 stolen bases on the season, making him the first player ever to record 30-plus homers and 60-plus steals in a single campaign.
MLB fans often discuss the elusive 40/40 club, a milestone that only four players have ever eclipsed, but Acuña just created a brand new club, of which he’s the lone member.

Earlier this season, Acuña became just the eighth player in league history, and the first since Rickey Henderson in 1990, to record 25-plus homers and 55-plus steals in a season. He’s since blown past both of those marks on his way to standing alone in MLB lore.
The Braves have 30 games left in the regular season, so the National League MVP candidate will have plenty of time to further add to historic statistical campaign.
