Rutgers made a splash in the recruiting world this week, landing recruit Dylan Harper, the No. 2 recruit in the class of 2024, per 247 Sports. Harper will be the second member of his family to play for the Scarlet Knights, following his brother, Ron Harper Jr., who repped Rutgers from 2018-19 through 2021-22.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news, less than an hour before Dylan Harper was scheduled to make the announcement at a news conference in New York. The news leak did not go over well with Ron Harper Sr., as the former NBA guard attacked Wojnarowski on social media for breaking the news before Dylan could announce it himself.
“That was some BS that you pull today,” Harper Sr. said. “I will catch up with you one day I promise…”

Ron Harper Jr., who’s currently a member of the Raptors organization, also publicly criticized Wojnarowski.
“Lame af man…smh,” he posted on social media.

While it’s not a surprise that Dylan would choose to play at the same school his brother attended, the family appears to believe Wojnarowski ruined the moment by reporting the news first. Regardless, the Don Bosco Prep senior is already a legend among the Rutgers basketball community for staying close to home.
