Roman Kemp plans to 'quit showbiz' after lifestyle caused debilitating diagnosis

Roman Kemp has said that he plans to quit showbiz within the next five years.

It comes after he received a shocking diagnosis for a disorder caused by his busy and "unhealthy" schedule. The Capital breakfast show host was diagnosed with sleep apnoea, which requires him to use oxygen when he goes to bed.

The disorder is a condition which causes a person's breathing to stop and start while sleeping. But despite his health concerns, Roman does intend to stick around for another five years so that he can mark his decade in the industry.

Speaking to Mail Online the radio presenter said: "'My tiredness levels were debilitating, and they said to me it was because of my job and I said this is different. I was talking with people where I thought I was verging on narcolepsy because I was mid conversation and would be snoring and not realising, it was very strange.

"The doctors told me I must wear an oxygen mask. There is absolutely nothing sexy about going back to Roman Kemp's house."

Roman followed in his dad's, Martin Kemp's, footsteps when he stepped into the world of showbiz. However, he insists he never chose his career for the fame. His plans instead are to become a stay-at-home dad and open up a dog sanctuary.

Speaking to Steven Bartlett on The Diary of a CEO podcast he said: "I want a decade on air at least. I would love to be able to say I did a decade on that show – whether my bosses will allow that I don't know."
