Roman Kemp has offered to perform Someone You Loved at the Capital Summertime Ball on Sunday after Lewis Capaldi backed out.
The West Lothian singer, 26, left fans devastated after announcing he would be cancelling all his remaining gigs until Glastonbury on June 24. The Bruises singer told fans he needed to take some time off to be 'Lewis from Glasgow' in order to perform at his best in a few weeks.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain, Roman, 30, spoke to Susanna Reid and Ed Balls about the Capital Summertime Ball as they discussed Lewis' unfortunate cancellation. "It's bad news but I'm pleased that we're now seeing artists are really taking care of themselves," Roman told the hosts.
"There's that constant saying that artists who keep pushing themselves, and pushing themselves too much."
He added: "We have unfortunately lost Lewis. He wrote on Twitter and Instagram that he needs to take time to rest and recover, both mentally and physically. I think that's the most important thing for anyone involved.
"But the fact of the matter is, at the Summertime Ball, he will be missed but we have 17 other artists that are still gonna be there. We've got Niall Horan, Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa."
He joked: "I've even agreed, if they want me to, to stand up on stage and sing Someone You Loved."
This comes after Lewis penned a lengthy statement informing fans he needed to take time out to recover from a gruelling tour and promotional schedule, following the release of his new album. "Hi everyone, hope you're well," he addressed fans on Instagram.
"This is a really difficult message and one that hurts me a lot to have to type, but I'm really sorry to say that I am going to have to cancel all commitments from now until I play Glastonbury on June 24. It's been such an incredible time leading into this new album, and seeing all the support from everyone has been beyond I could have ever dreamed of."
He explained: "That said, the last few months have been full on both mentally and physically, I haven't been home properly since Christmas and at the moment I am struggling to get to grips with it all.
"I need to take a moment to rest and recover, to be at my best and ready for Glastonbury, and all of the other incredible shows coming up so that I'm able to continue doing what I love for a long time to come.
"I need to take these three weeks to be Lewis from Glasgow for a bit, spend some time with my family and friends and do normal life things that are an important part of me feeling better. I hope everyone understands."
Lewis continued: "I know many of you will have spent money on travel or hotels, which I appreciate more than ever with how difficult things are economically at the moment, so I'm extremely sorry for the impact this will have.
"The fact you're willing to come out and spend your time, money and love on these shows is beyond comprehension and I feel incredibly lucky. I'm getting all the help and support I need from all the incredible people around me who I am so grateful for. I take none of this for granted and can't wait to be back doing it again. All my love Lewis x"
