Roman Kemp has awkwardly dodged accusations he is The Masked Singer’s Poodle after a fan put the question to him live on the radio.
The 28-year-old presenter skirted around the caller’s question, leaving his Capital radio co-hosts Sian Welby and Sonny Jay highly suspicious.
Eddie from Woking pointblank asked Roman during a phone in, saying: “Roman, you’re not the poodle on The Masked Singer are you?”
Co-host Sian gasps as Roman answered the question with another question, saying: “Eddie, what’s your wake up pun?”
Sian exclaimed: “Oh, he’s being so secretive!”
The Masked Singer’s Poodle was a hit with the studio audience from the outset, after an electric performance of Elton John's Rocketman got the crowd and the judging panel out of their seats.
Since then, there has been furious debate over the identity of Poodle as fans theorise who is behind the mask.
The hit ITV reality series – which sees stars dress up in elaborate costumes and perform cover songs to a panel of judges who attempt to decipher their identities using clues – returned to screens earlier this month.
This year’s judging panel includes Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan.
Poodle’s VT gave viewers plenty of clues to chew on. Hints included references to queens, performing, flamboyance, and dogs. The character also nodded to the Royal Variety Performance.
“I’ve always loved a bit of glamour and I don’t mind telling you that flamboyance is a little bit fabulous. It’s something I’ve always admired,” they said.
“I once went on very long walkies,” Poodle said in the video.
The judging panel thought the celebrity might have something to do with drag queens and guessed it was either Paul O’Grady, Adam Lambert, Michael Ball or Rylan Clark.
They added: “I can’t wait to be let off the leash in this competition. I’m very eager to start. Are you r-r-r-ready for me? Ruff!” In their final clue, Poodle said: “I once went on a very long walkies.”
On Saturday , Poodle played into his animal identity by singing Tom Jones’s “What’s New Pussycat?”
Viewers on Twitter guessed that Paul O’Grady could be Poodle given that the comedian and broadcaster presents a show called For the Love of Dogs.
This comes after The Masked Singer's Traffic Cone may have had his identity exposed as singer Russell Watson let slip the celebrity apparently under the mask during an interview on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday.
He denied he was Traffic Cone, and instead claimed he knew exactly who was and that it was a close friend of his - claiming it was fellow singer and his good pal Aled Jones.
