WHO IS RECOGNISED?
* There are 949 recipients in The King's Birthday 2026 honours list
* This includes 703 people in the general division of the Order of Australia
* It is comprised of five recipients of the Companions of the Order (AC), 40 recipients of the Officer of the Order (AO), 183 recipients of the Member of the Order (AM), and 475 awarded the Medal of the Order (OAM)
* In the Military Division of the Order of Australia there were 34 recipients which includes three AOs, 11 AMs and 20 OAMs
* There were 149 Meritorious awards and 63 Conspicuous awards
* Of the Meritorious awards, 30 people received the Australian Police Medal, an additional 30 were recipients of the Australian Fire Service Medal, 11 received the Ambulance Service Medal, 14 received the Emergency Services Medal, and 16 received the Australian Corrections Medal
GENDER BREAKDOWN
* There were 471 male recipients, 229 females, and two others who used a different term
* The gender balance of this year's honours list has improved by 5 per cent on the previous year
* There were 669 men considered for awards, while 471 were approved
* This results in 70.4 per cent of male candidates being granted an award
* There were 379 women nominated for awards, with 229 successful
* This results in a lower award rate in comparison to men at 60.4 per cent
