While the general election beckons, several states, mainly in New England, still have to get through their primaries.
CQ Roll Call recently traveled to two of them — Massachusetts and New Hampshire — to catch some of the Democratic candidates on the campaign trail with weeks to go before primary voters pick their nominees.
The candidates included New Hampshire Rep. Chris Pappas, who is running for Senate, and Maura Sullivan, who is seeking the battleground House seat Pappas is vacating. In Massachusetts, we trailed Rep. Seth Moulton, who’s challenging incumbent Sen. Edward J. Markey in the primary. We also caught up with candidates running to succeed Moulton in Massachusetts’ 6th District and Sullivan’s rivals for the Democratic nomination in New Hampshire’s 1st.
From a “speed dating” event for candidates in Dover, N.H., to a Latinos Unidos softball game in Lawrence, Mass., to a meet-and-greet at an 18th-century home in Warner, N.H., CQ Roll Call photo journalist Tom Williams was there to capture the moments.
Here are a few images from the trip:
