Rohan Smith exchanged words with a number of St Helens supporters following Leeds Rhinos' controversial victory over the champions. Blake Austin's drop goal secured a win in which Saints received three cards, including a red, while a controversial call late in the game also went in Leeds' favour.
Referee Chris Kendall chose to award Leeds a penalty for Jack Welsby's alleged shoulder charge rather than give St Helens the penalty 40 metres out in front of the sticks. There were around five minutes remaining at that stage and from the call, former Rhino Konrad Hurrell was sent off.
Saints fans were left livid after the game with a loud chorus of boos coming from the majority of the 15,000 plus in attendance at the Totally Wicked Stadium. They also personally aired their frustrations to members of the Rhinos party, including Smith himself.

Aidan Sezer was seen telling St Helens fans to calm down as he waited to deliver his post-match interview after being named Sky Sports man of the match. Touchline reporter Jenna Brooks said: “I can tell you that I am witnessing something I have never witnessed in my career, there are a number of St Helens fans who have actually come down to the touchline, they are booing this player of the match and Aidan Sezer is dealing with it very well.”
And as Smith waited for his interview, he was seen in discussions with angry St Helens supporters who couldn't wait to protest.
The unsavoury scenes were the end of a controversial evening which saw Leeds pick up their first win of the season.
