Graham Bosankoe and his wife Maggie Truong Bosankoe say they were shocked to see a black goat running through their yard in South Australia's north yesterday.
They were even more shocked when it jumped through their living room window and into their house.
"It completely shattered the window," Mr Bosankoe said.
"Of course, it turned around and jumped through it [again].
"I'm surprised it wasn't badly hurt."
The couple tried to chase it but it jumped away and out of their property at Kapunda, near the Barossa Valley.
Just 10 minutes earlier, their five-year-old daughter had been playing in the same room.
"It could've been dire consequences if the kids had been playing Lego," Mr Bosankoe said.
Ms Bosankoe took to the town's Facebook forums, asking if anyone knew who the goat belonged to and posting pictures of the damage.
Just 10 minutes before her post, the local Light Regional Council put up its own Facebook post, saying a goat had been seen wandering in an area near the Bosankoes' house.
"Council does not have any equipment or facilities to deal with a goat," the post read.
"Council seeks the assistance of the public for information as to the owner of the goat so it may be returned home."
The post said police had advised the goat was enclosed at the address which belongs to the Bosankoes.
A council ranger confirmed to the ABC that he had asked council office staff to post the message on Facebook.
In a statement, SA Police said they had received a number of calls regarding a goat roaming through Kapunda yesterday and found the animal along Clare Road.
"The animal walked into a property on Mildred Street and joined other stock," the statement said.
"Police contacted the council and on their advice, shut the open gate to prevent the animals from roaming again.
"The council advised they would then post the information on their social media page in order to identify the owner.
"Police attempted to contact the property owner at Mildred Street [but] were unable to speak with anyone."
The Light Regional Council has been contacted for comment.
