Roger Stone under investigation for alleged assassination threats against Democrats

Roger Stone under investigation for allegedly threatening to assassinate House Democrats.

In a recent development, Roger Stone, a close ally of former President Donald Trump, is under investigation by the U.S. Capitol Police and the FBI over allegations of threatening to assassinate House Democrats. The investigation comes after an audio recording surfaced, in which Stone is heard making menacing comments about Democratic Congressman Eric Swalwell and Congressman Jerry Nadler.

The audio recording, first obtained by the website Mediate, has not been independently verified for authenticity. However, sources reveal that both the US Capitol Police and the FBI are taking the matter seriously, investigating the alleged comments made by Stone in the weeks leading up to the 2020 election.

Threats against lawmakers are treated with utmost seriousness, and based on the content of the recording, this situation is no exception. Stone has vehemently denied making the threatening remarks and has dismissed the audio recording as 'total nonsense.' He has even accused it of being manipulated by artificial intelligence, deeming the entire incident absurd.

This is not the first time that Roger Stone's actions and comments related to the election have faced scrutiny. He had been actively involved in several efforts to overturn the 2020 election, and evidence presented by the House January 6th Committee has implicated him in the events surrounding the January 6th rally to 'Stop the Steal.' Stone had also been convicted as a result of the Robert Mueller probe, but his sentence was commuted by Trump before serving any jail time.

Congressman Swalwell and Congressman Nadler have both expressed concern upon learning about the audio recording. Swalwell, in particular, issued a statement in which he highlighted the gravity of the situation, stating that the recording indicated a possible assassination plot orchestrated by Roger Stone against him. He emphasized that threats of violence, including this one, must be taken seriously not only by law enforcement but also by his colleagues in Congress.

Since the events of January 6, threats against lawmakers have been on the rise. Given the serious nature of the allegations against Stone, the US Capitol Police and the FBI are actively investigating the matter.

Roger Stone's involvement in political controversies and his ties to former President Trump have made him a well-known figure in recent years. It remains to be seen how the investigation will unfold and what consequences, if any, will be faced by Stone as a result of these allegations.
