NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has remained quiet on the topic of the Washington Commanders recently. In public appearances, Goodell hasn’t said much when asked about the sale of the Commanders.
On night one of the 2023 NFL draft, Goodell was again asked about the Commanders and said, “Progress is being made.”
"That progress will hopefully lead to them being comfortable to announce some type of a transaction probably by the middle of May or late May," Roger Goodell says on ESPN of the Commanders sale. https://t.co/pHPtlxooVt

Goodell’s comments are the latest positive sign that Washington will be sold soon to Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils owner Josh Harris. Harris’ group, which includes DC businessman and philanthropist Mitchell Rales and NBA legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson, bid $6.05 billion for the franchise earlier this month.
Goodell’s comments of “them being comfortable to announce some type of transaction probably by the middle of May or late May” means that we are waiting for the other owners to approve the deal.
After 24 years with Snyder as owner, Snyder selling the franchise is the best transaction possible for Washington fans.
