Rod Stewart shares sweet birthday message for Penny before day out at Cheltenham

Rod Stewart celebrated his wife Penny's 51st birthday in style with a swanky day at Cheltenham races.

The Celtic-daft rocker dressed up in some dapper gear as he and his wife posed for a picture.

Sir Rod wore a shirt and tie with a suit jacket and white trousers, whilst the birthday girl donned a beige outfit, finished with a neck scarf and tanned, knee-high boots.

Sharing it on his Instagram, the 77-year-old wished his wife a happy birthday.

He wrote: "Happy Birthday darling, let’s get a winner."

And many fans flocked to the comments to wish Mrs Stewart a happy birthday.

One said: "Happy Birthday’ Great photo if you both - enjoy the horse racing."

Another said: "What a cool couple! Wish you luck!"

While one commented: "Lovely couple, would like to be Penny for a day!! Sending Happy Bday best wishes."

And since it was her birthday, Penny fancied a flutter and she bagged a winner, writes The Mirror.

After picking a winner in Honeysuckle, ridden by Rachael Blackmore, Penny said: “I’m absolutely thrilled for Honeysuckle.

“My mum is with me and we were all just praying for her. What an incredible story. Woman power all round. It’s just phenomenal. It’s so good for the sport.”

Just yesterday, Essex council slammed Sir Rod for taking matters into his own hands and fixing pot holes in the road.

The Maggie May singer told fans that the road at his Essex property was so bad an ambulance had burst a tyre and his Ferrari was unable to drive through.

The council, which looks after the maintenance and repair work for Essex roads, said that people could put themselves at 'risk' if they fix roads themselves.
