Rod Stewart 's daughter has paid an emotional to two of her relatives, who sadly died just weeks apart. Her uncles, Donny and Bob, both recently passed away.
In a post to her 44,400 followers and fans on Instagram, Ruby videoed herself playing Fleetwood Mac classic Songbird on the piano, which was written by Christine McVie, who died last week. Ruby added that she loves the song because it is for everyone and that it can be sung in mourning, in celebration of life and in falling in love.
Her post reads: "I’m not a particularly religious person, but I love the idea of the ones we love gathering in heaven above us. My two uncles Donny and Bob recently passed with in two months of one another. I like to believe they are together forever in a different realm.
"And then the passing of Christine McVie only days to follow. This song of hers has been in my head for days now. Fleetwood Mac has always been my favorite band for the woman who lead it.
"Our most accurate perception of one’s truest qualities are only seen in light of their departure. Only in our memory are the ones we have lost perfect. All the negative qualities fade away and way we can 'love them like never before'…
"I love this song because it is for everyone. It can be sung in mourning, in celebration of life and in falling in love. Whichever state you’re in its sung for you in that moment.
"Sending love to those who have loved and lost recently. The deeper the grief the greater the love… but aren’t we lucky to have known it…"
We recently told you how Sir Rod announced the death of his older brother Bob as he mourns his 'best mate'. The Maggie May singer shared the sad news with fans on social media.
It comes just weeks after the 77-year-old lost his other sibling Don who passed away aged 94 in September.
