Taron Egerton's debut in London's West End did not go according to plan, as the actor fainted on stage in his first preview performance.
Egerton passed out in the closing act of Cock, by Mike Bartlett, on Saturday night.
The actor is best known for his screen role as Elton John in the 2019 biopic Rocketman, which saw him pick up a Golden Globe gong for best actor in a musical or comedy.
Understudy Joel Harper-Jackson replaced Egerton for the remainder of the show, unexpectedly making his West End debut in the process.
“I am completely fine. Slightly sore neck and a bruised ego but I’m fine," Egerton posted to Instagram on Sunday.
"That being said, apparently you’re meant to actually do the full show and not just three-quarters of it. So I’ll be back with a vengeance tomorrow night."
Understudy Harper-Jackson described making his West End debut mid-show as "an absolute privilege".
"I feel extraordinarily lucky to have experienced that moment. I'll never forget it."
Egerton returned to perform the whole way through Monday night's performance.
"Did the second preview, didn't pass out," he said in a video on Instagram, giving a thumbs up.
Cock centres around a gay man who feels torn after meeting and falling in love with a woman, and first premiered in London in 2009.
